I think we may need a little more to go on. The KB article you cite is the fixlist for SP2.
Did you try rebooting the nodes before applying SP2?
If you have a broken SP2 install, you will likely have lots of problems until you fix it. What does the SQL setup log say about the SP2 install? Note, this is a large file and will take some time to poke through and find the relevant error. The installer pretty verbose.

The MS Cluster install went well, the SQL 2005 went great as well. No errors
at all...that was until I tried to install SP1 then tried installing SP2. I
get the same error every time. It has to do with a recent install of KB
921896. The error on the summary.txt file is 28017.
I though maybe I can just go without installing the service packs but I
can't even log into the server using SQL Server Management Studio.
