I do not recommend to change the SQL 2000 virtual server name from Cluster Admin as it may seem to work now but there is no guarantee that this will not affect the availability of the server later. For SQL 2000, the
recommended way is to uninstall and reinstall using new name. For SQL Server 2005, this is not an issue anymore.
