Thanks for replying. Please excuse my lack not using spell check before
I posted.
But I think that I have found my problem, I do not read well. I
reviewed the setup instructions listed on this page:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179530.aspx
and I founfd that after step #12, was my answer.
“You cannot name an instance DEFAULT or MSSQLSERVER.”
Once I renamed the instance, the installation went through correctly.
