Make sure you start with this KB article
PRB: Installation of a Named Instance of SQL Server 2000 Virtual Server on a
    Windows 2003-Based Cluster Fails
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;815431&Product=sql2k

Check that all your host nodes are up and joined to the cluster and can
    acess any required resources.

Install each instance. Reboot each node. Install SQL Service Pack 3a.
    Reboot each node.
Repeat for each instance. SQL install may not indicate that a reboot is
necessary at each step, but I found NOT rebooting after each install caused
    the next install to fail.

Be sure and remove the Named Pipes Aiases or SQL agent jobs may fail
    semi-randomly.
