Re: Remote Client for SQL Server 2000 - create linked servers

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

You will have to add yourself (as an user) into a group of admins or another
local group on the Windows Server when SQL Server is running

thank you. we will check.

It's a bit of a desaster what is happening here. The installation of
Enterprise Manager first did not work because of an error of MDAC
installation, the second attempt to install worked. Now I found that
my ODBC drivers on the PC do not work anymore. I installed MDAC 2.8
(coming with SQL Server 2003) but that did not help. I cannot make my
DB-Queries using ADO, I get the same error message as when trying to
connect to the SQL-Server with Enterprise manager. (???)

Will I have to reinstall an earlier version of MDAC (that came with
Windows 2000 Server) to make that work again? Or should I simply
install Windows XP SP2 (or 3)? (I cannot figure out how to reinstall
odbc drivers.)
