In the end, re-imaging the PC may be a quicker solution in your case. But I
still believe that if you scour your fileysystem and registry to delete
everything that has anything to do with SQL Server, you should be able to
then get a fresh install done.

that the migration to this PC simply did not handle that correctly. I am
thinking I will simply re-image the PC (ugh) as I have a couple other little
nagging issues. Then, I shall retry the installation.
Thanks to you both for all your very kind help!

Will you try Windows Install Cleanup Utility?

If you see your SQL Server 2000 installation there, try deleting it.
Note:
SQL Server 2000 Setup is really bad. If you lose the log file of the Setup
then you are in the soup. I really dislike it... SQL Server 2005' s Setup is
really good and it seems SQL Server 2008' s is much better.

I tried this but cannot really seem to get off the ground. As near as I
can
tell, my computer does not seem to "think' it has Enterprise manager
installed. The KB article recommends deleting the install directory in
the
Program Files, but that directory does not even exist for me. So, I am
guessing something is quite wrong, given that it shows in my
Start->Programs-Menu, but is not actually installed.
I am totally in trouble, as I have to get sql server reinstalled, but the
install fails every time (it "acts" like it installs, and then simply
"ends")
with no notice, and no error.

I don't know any way to just uninstall Enterprise Manager without
touching
any other SQL2000 pieces (if that's what you wanted to do). But there
should
be a SQL Server 2000 entry in the Add/Remove Program list that you
can
select
to uninstall SQL Server 2000. Is it not there?
You can also take a look at this KB article on how to manually remove
a
SQL2000 instance.

I have PC that, when I migrated from an older PC, the SQL
Enterprise

process.
Now,
however, it does not function.
I am attempting to remove it, so I can start over, but apparently,
there
is
no UNINSTALL option, nor is it listed in Control Panel, Add Remove
Programs
(that I can see, anyway).
Anyone have ANY idea how to uninstall an older version? Installing
over
the
top does not seem to work, either.
THanks for any pointers!
