Hi Michael,
For your two questions, please see my answers below:
Q: Is there a comparison chart showing the differences between the Express
and the full editions of SQL Server Management Studio? I have used the
Express edition, which seems akin to just Query Analyzer. My impression is
that the full edition also has the operation set of Enterprise Manager.
A: Yes, from the following article in SQL Server 2005 BOL, I think that you
can find what you want:
SQL Server Management Studio Express
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365247.aspx
I would like to extract part of the content here for your reference:
======================================================
SSMSE is different from the complete SQL Server Management Studio in the
following ways:
+ SSMSE cannot manage Analysis Services, Integration Services, Notification
Services, or Reporting Services.
+ You cannot update the full-text catalog by using SSMSE. You can use
sqlcmd utility or Windows Scheduler to update the full-text catalog.
+ Interactive Resolver, which lets you resolve conflicts manually during
on-demand synchronization in Microsoft Windows Synchronization Manager, is
not supported in SSMSE.
+ SSMSE does not support scheduling administrative tasks by using SQL
Server Agent.
+ SSMSE does not support importing and exporting data.
+ In SSMSE, Object Explorer only supports Database Engine instances. The
Connect to Server dialog box prevents connecting to other services, such as
Analysis Services.
+ Because SSMSE is a subset of SQL Server Management Studio, all objects
that would normally be enumerated for a specific Database Engine Object
Explorer tree are still visible in SSMSE. If it is an object for an
unsupported item, only the refresh command is available.
+ Help for SSMSE is not installed by the product. If you press F1, MSDN
Online help opens. Pressing F1, you are able to access all F1 help topics,
but you do not see a table of contents or an index for the SQL Server 2005
documentation. To add SQL Server 2005 documentation to SSMSE, install SQL
Server 2005 Books Online from SQL Server 2005 Books Online Download Center.
After installing, in the Contents pane of the Books Online, you can use the
SQL Server Express filter to hide the content that does not apply to SQL
Server Express edition.

Q: Where do I find a download on MSDN for just SSMS? Or is that just
bundled in the SS2005 package? Do I need to install the full SS2005 or
could I just install SSMS?
A: No, there is no public link for downloading SSMS. It is bundled in SQL
Server 2005 installation package. However you do not need to install the
full package of SQL Server 2005, instead you can just install the client
tools that contain SSMS from the Tools folder in the SQL Server 2005 setup
CD.
Hope this helps. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel
free to let me know. Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Charles Wang

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for
non-urgent issues where an initial response from the community
or a Microsoft Support Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable.
Please note that each follow up response may take approximately
2 business days as the support professional working with you may
need further investigation to reach the most efficient resolution.
The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by
contacting Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) at
