There are others but I think you are beginning to see a pattern here...

existing component, refer to the template.ini and set the UPGRADE property to
the name of the component.

Event ID: 11724
Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools -- Install started.

Event ID: 11708
Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Notification Services -- Installation
failed.

I did uninstall the Exress ed. The question is did it uninstall completely.
Then I installed the developer edition 10 different times. All of those
failed. I would be happy to re-install Express, then remove, then
re-install
the developer edition if I thought it would fix the problem. But I hate to
do
that if it just fails all over again.

I installed SQL Server Experess edition initially. After I uninstalled
Express I tried to install the Developer edition. The install is
failing
