Re: Setup of 2005 Dev edition Client Components fails

Hi Scott,

Some say that you need to uninstall Express Edition completely first and then try installing Developer Edition and then reinstall Express Edition.

I have not faced any problem like this yet so I didn't have a chance to try it out. I saw this problem and suggested solution on a forum once.

Let us know the result please?

I installed SQL Server Experess edition initially. After I uninstalled
Express I tried to install the Developer edition. The install is failing for
Notification Services, Integration Services and Client Components (or
Workstation Components). Each fails with the message:

"A component that you have specified in the ADD_LOCAL property is already
installed. To upgrade the exisiting component, refer to the template.ini and
set the UPGRADE property to the name of the component."

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Thanks,
Scott
