Thanks again Jens, for your help.
I did not install a named instance, just the default.
OSQL -L from the 98SE PC gets me "None".
OSQL -L from the XP Pro PC gets me "Server: (local)"
I have set up mixed mode authentication on the XP Pro PC.
I have the Client Services set up on the XP Pro PC because I did not have
the second 98SE PC until just recently. When I start the "SQL Query
Analyzer" from the XP Pro PC, I have no trouble connecting to the SQL Server
using sa and password *******.
I didn't find any help on the link that you furnished. Jim.
