There are several different messages that start with "login failed", which
one are you getting? Please paste the exact error number and text.

* If you are logging in with SQL authentication, make sure that SQL is
configured to accept both SQL and Windows authentication.
* Verify that the account (either Windows or SQL) that you are logging in
with exists in SQL Server (a Windows account could exist through group
membership).
* Verify your password is correct.
* Does the connection fail from Query Analyzer on the client, or just from
an application on that same client?
