Clint,
As far as I know you need VS 2005 Standard or above or VS 2008 Professional or above in order to get the SQL Compact data tools. You can also use SQL Express 2005 sp2 Management Studio if you only want the database design and query tools and don't care about the code generation tools.

I have installed VSTO 2005 and have discovered that the designer tools for
SQL Compact Edition do not function. They appear to function fine in VS 2005
Professional but not in VSTO.
Does anyone know how to get the tools to work in VSTO or do I have to now
purchase VS Professional
I apologise if this is the wrong group for this post but I am running out of
solutions.
