Re: SQL Server CE Mobile?

Thanks Ginny,

I did run the ConnWiz30.exe and after some trouble with the share config,
got it to work!!
Appreciate your help. In hindsight I suppose do a two step
1. Run Sqlce30setupen.msi from the <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\90\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE folder

2. Run ConnWiz30.exe from the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile
Edition\Server folder.

My mistake was just trying to set it up manually - i must have missed a step
doing it that way.

Again appreciate the help.

Harry

Harry,

Yes since they both use the same IIS "plumbing". Be sure to check out
Steve's video on Configuring RDA Server Components - it's only 7 minutes.

So even if I'm not setting up Merge Replication but only want to use RDA,
I need to install SQL Server Replication Components - is that a correct
statement?

Thanks Ginny,

I was so familiar with CE 2 and using RDA that I figured 3 would be a
breeze but really didn't find the step by step install
instructs.......for instance I didn't know what I was suppose to see
when I tried to hit sqlcesa30.dll in the browser then yesterday found
the text:

'If the SQL Server Mobile Server Agent is configured correctly,
Internet Explorer displays the string: "SQL Server Mobile Server Agent
3.0"'

I'll go back and uninstall everything and follow the Books Online deal
to a t.

Thanks for responding.

Harry,

We're not really ignoring you - we just don't know why your
configuration isn't working. Most people find setting up Merge
Replication is actually easier with SQL Mobile. Maybe you already did
this, but could you recheck to make sure you followed all the steps in
the SQL Mobile Books Online, How To, Installation Tasks and Replication
and RDA Tasks. I hope this will get you going again.

Is anyone using this successfully? I thought this was the place to
ask questions regarding this technology but this newsgroup appears to
be pretty dead. Any MVPs out there that could lend a hand -
please......

TIA
