Arif,
You don't need to setup modem connections or proxy servers. If you
cradle your device, connect it to your PC through Activesync, you should
be able to use Pocket IE to hit the virtual directory that contains
sscesa20.dll.
Here are some basic things to check:
1. your PC has an IP address assigned - in other words, it's on a network
or
you have the loopback adapter installed. since things work for you in the
emulator,
it sounds like your pc does have an address assigned
2. try using the ip address instead of the PC name in your URL.
3. to further rule out the device's networking settings, try hitting any
other web site on
the internet from pocket ie while the device is cradled and ethernet
passthrough is enabled
in activesync - if you can't get to the web, make sure your PPC network card
settings
say "My network card connects to: The Internet"
4. make sure you've created your virtual directory through the Virtual
Directory
Creation Wizard for SQL CE Server Tools (not by hand, which doesn't register
the DLL)
and that IIS services on your PC are actually running
5. make sure you granted permissions on the virtual directory in IIS
(sscevd)
- for now, just grant anonymous access until you can get from device to the
directory
6. try not to involve a domain account in this configuration until you get
it all working
with anonymous and guest accounts. after that, you can add additional
layers of
complexity/security, one at a time.
And here is a complete treatment of troubleshooting your connection:
