Re: OSD: get mac address of network cards

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Doesn't really help him since he would need a licensed copy of winpe which is exactly his issue.

Hi Oskar,

I have a better idea for you - BDD 2007. ZTI fully automates this with (I
think) the ZTIGather script.

In short, you use the Deployment Workbench to create a customized WinPE
2004/2005 build that includes WMI support. This flat boot image is then used
to update OSD in SMS. From there you generate your ZTI boot image on CD for
New Computer or in SMS for Refresh scenarios.

Hope this helps.

Hi Christoph,

You can retrieve the computers Mac address without WMI support. I know
that the ZeroTouchInstallation.vbs script (included in BDD 2.5) does
this by using the output of the ipconfig.exe /all command, and
retrieving the mac address form this output. I don't have an version
of the script at hand, but you can just install BDD 2.5 on some
computer, search for the zerotouchinstall.vbs script, and look for a
section with ipconfig inside the script

Good Luck,

Oskar
