I usually not reccomend using cd/dvs at all due to security and ease
of update reasons...
I prefer to boot WinPE using PXE (RIS, WDS or other). In that way the
media can be easily updated from a central location and some security
can be added..

Is there any way of updating NIC drivers for WinPE "on the fly" from a.
previously burned bootable DVD?
Does someone on the list have a creative solution to this?
Background
We have successfully been using a BDD developed image and deploying using
OSD from a DVD. We have also included a "Connect to..." task that allows
pulling down Just In Time drivers for integration with the image by
ZeroTouchInstallation.vbs.
If the hardware vendor makes a change in NIC, this task will fail and will
break the OS deployment because the NIC is not supported by the booted
version of WinPE. Tasks following do not run because of the failed "Connect
to..." task.
Ideas offered by my peers (may or may not be usable)...
provide new drivers on a USB key. (how to make WinPE use that when
booting???)
provide a generic LAN driver that offers limited functionality but will
work on any hardware
bootable USB key that references the WIM image on the optical drive
And last
burn new DVD media (the obvious but last resort)
