Steven--
Hi. Yes Remote Tools is supported on XP, however in SMS 2003 SP1, the legacy client is not.
The first thing to check is the RemCtrl.log and see if there are any errors installing the drivers.
Another thing to see is if there is an updated video driver or if it is a laptop a touchpad driver. Some of the older drivers have problems with filter drivers.

Subject: Remote Tools on XP
Hi
I have SMS 2003 SP1 installed and at present am using the lagacy client on
all our PC's. The client was already installed on the PC's but I then enabled
the Remote Tools and sent out the client again in order to add the function.
The client PC's are all XP, I realise that Remote Assistance is better for XP
but should the Remote tools still work?
The majority of the client PC's seemed to freeze on start up after remote
tools had been added? It seemed to happen when the keyboard/mouse/display
drivers were being installed. Got the PC's back by returning them to their
last known good. Any reason why this happened or any suggestions would be
appreciated?
Thanks
.
