Will making the advertisements mandatory cause the program to run forcibly
whether the user want it or not?

Within SMS you can force the install of an application by making
advertisement mandatory.

If you have SMS then I would only use SMS to deploy applications and not
AD.
There are many white paper on why SMS is better than AD.

Hi

I am fairly new to AD and SMS as I have primarily worked with Novell
and
used ZENWorks for app deployment.

I have so far succesfully migrated my apps over to SMS and they work as
I
hoped they would. At the moment I use ZENWorks to pass changes (reg
fixes,
file rights re-assignment etc) to workstations. I can do that via
Active
Directory Group Policy, but we also use ZEN to install apps when users
log
in
(forced install of apps).

How do I achieve this in SMS?

Do I use SMS to install these apps on user login/machine boot, or do I
use
the Group Policy Computer Configuration > Software Settings > Software
installation to install apps on boot?

Which is the best option for me to use.

Thanks in advance.

James
