Hi
You will have to wait for SMS v4 later this year (2007). Seems like it
supports using Workstations as clients...
But until it's out you won't be sure this feature will be part of the program.
let's wait and see...

I'm running into the same problem..
I have over 400 branch offices with only windows XP pro machines located in
each (about 5 per branch). There is absolutely NO way that I will be able to
purchase servers or server software for each branch, let alone go through an
upgrade project like that.
I NEED DISTRIBUTION POINTS!!! Using a server share on a windows XP pro is
not considered a "Server" share and does not work. Even with BITS disabled,
it doesn't work. When you make the XPPRO machine a DP, look at the "Type"
value, it's missing.
If anyone has solved this problem without having to resort to third-party
software (SMS NOMAD BRANCH), let me know. PLEASE!!

But you can setup an XP machine with a server share to act as a DP but I
guess this must be a domain client not in a workgroup.

Hi
I have got advanced client to install on workgroup machines, is it possible
for a distribution point to be setup on an XP machine in a workgroup. The
workgroup machines are at remote sites and need a local distribution point.
