Just for the record. Turns out we had a rogue SMS Site with conflicting
boundaries. My clients were assigned to the correct management point,
but for some reason they were requesting locations from the rogue site
server.

Yeah, I'm using BITS. There's nothing in ContentTransferManager.log,
all I see is "Started CTM Job".
In the Advanaced Client Troubleshooting Tool, I see all advertisements
with "Failure Reason = Failed to get content location", and failure
codes 80008204 and -2147450364
Thanks again.

Are you using BITS to perform download and execute?
Does the 'ContentTransferManager.log' give you any clues?

Thanks for your response Steve.
The clients are in the site's boundaries, and their firewall is turned
off. Access to the MP is working well, I can only see one error (in
ccmexec.log located the SMS_CCM folder in the site server - not the one
on the client):
<![LOG[Error deserializing message

Policies and advertisements are being downloaded just fine, but the
clients are timing out while waiting for a response from Locator
Manager (this happens for all advertisements and packages).
Thanks again,

Are the clients on a managed subnet at the time of the attempted download
(think roaming)?
Any issues with the client accessing the sites management point?
Any other client side issues, such as a firewall that may be interfering?

For some reason, several of my clients can't locate a valid DP. I've
tried using both DPs in my AD site, and they still fail unless the
package is already in cache.
I can manually access the shared package resource just fine, and I
verified that the clients are trying to download the correct version of
the package.
I've been looking everywhere trying to solve the issue, but I've had no
luck so far. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this problem?
(I'd apretiate any pointers or suggestions)
Here's part of what I get in the logs:
execmgr.log says

request)
