Hi
I am trying to deploy the MS05-038 (KB896727) patch for IE6.0 SP1 using SMS
2003 Software Updates Wizard.
When I select the patch SMS automatically goes to the web and downloads the
..exe file to be used. The patch the file it downloads is
'IE6.0sp1-KB896727-SMS-Deploy-KB903741-x86-ENU.exe'. After this I check the
documentation for the patch to find the switches I need. The documentation
says '/quiet /norestart' switches are compatible. After adding the switches
to the patch and testing the deployment I get a message saying the command
line switches are invalid.
To find the correct switches I then run the patch with the /? switch and it
tells me that only the '/Q' switch is valid.
After rechecking the documentation at MS I find the file name MS is refering
to is 'IE6.0sp1-KB896727-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe' which is slightly
different to the one that SMS has downloaded.
Can someone please tell me why this is and also how to deploy quietly with
norestart.
Thanks
.
