Does MS (or someone) have any articles that deal specifically with deploying
Windows 2000 sp4 using sms 2003? In case the answer is "no," here is my
situation:
I extracted the service pack to my distribution folder, and used a
definition file I downloaded from MS to create the package. I used the
following command line for the "unattendent" update program:
i386\update\update.exe -u -z. In the package properties, I specified that
the package contained source files, and to always obtain the source files
from the source directory. The source files are stored in a subfolder of a
share I created rather than the default SMSPKG$ share, but I made sure it had
identicle share and security settings. In the advertisement I specified to
download the the program from the distribution point.
It seems to stick at the following point (from advertisement status log):
The program for advertisement "S002001A has not yet started because the
content for the package "S0000013" - "Unattendent Update" (version 6) has not
been acquired. Possible cause: The content for this program must be
downloaded into the computer’s cache, or the content could not be located.
Solution: If the program is being downloaded, no action is required. The
program will start once the download has been successfully completed. If the
content can not be located, ensure that a distribution point with this
content is available for this computer.
Any help would be much appreciated - thanks!
