Hello Everyone,
I would like to have some clarity on advertising msi
problem using sms2003. It's highly appreciated if any one
kindly give me some advice!
The environment is sms2003 running in standard security
mode and NT domain. Client are running advanced client
1. Which user context is used as installation?
a. "Run with administrative rights" is checked. -
I think it is System account and use Network access
account account to access network. any others account
will it try?? if yes what is the order?
b. "Run with administrative rights" is clean. -
I think it is logged in user and connect to network as
logged in user.
Am I right?? any difference on advanced client and legacy
client??
2. does the "allow users to interact with this program"
any affect on installation account??
3. How Can I install a program to low rights user and
modify or add something to HKCU or even place an icon to
user profile?? if we don't want to split the program into
two??
4. what is the effect if AlwaysInstallElevated set to 1
in both HKCU and HKLM? what about if i just set either in
one?? does the sms advertise program treat as managed
program?? I feel confusing about the document on MSDN
about this topic.
5. I've to tried to advertise an msi program with "Run
with administrative rights" is selected and ALLUSERS set
to 2. however, i found the icon was placed in "Documents
and Settings\system\Start Menu. supposed it to be in All
USER. right ?
Thanks for your advice!!
