Not exactly sure it will help in this case but that error means
 12152 ERROR_HTTP_INVALID_SERVER_RESPONSE
               The server response could not be parsed.
You can find this by looking at KB 193625
INFO: WinInet Error Codes (12001 through 12156)

You should consider using the patchdownloader.exe program to specify a
server and credentials even though your proxy server doesn't require the
credentials.
