Hi
You can schedule the update of packages to a dp by using the "Update
Distribution Points on a schedule" option on a package by package basis.
All activity relating to updating the dp's can be found in the Distribution
Manager status messages and log file (distmgr.log) on the site server. You
won't find this log on the dp itself as dp's don't run any sms threads.
Checking that the client is running the install from the approriate dp can
be done in the advert status messages (in the description usually) and the
client log files. Note that although the client may run the install from a
local dp the client odp's will pick up the advert from a cap, so all wan
traffic may not be eliminated if there's no local cap in this scenario.

(512k) There is only going to be like 4 PC's that will use the DP for mostly
just criticle updates and office patches. The idea here is to not have to
put a server in the remote location. The response I got from that mail was
that it's not supported and might not work. So far I have got the XP
workstation set up as a DP and the packages have replicated to the share.
I'm now going to use prefserve to set the clients to use that XP DP. If this
works my next questions is how do I schedule the replication, and how or
where do I look to see what activity the DP is serving So I make sure that
its not taking client requests from the otherside of the WAN ect.
