Hi all,
Currently my client has SMS2003 infrastructure. They have 2 primary sites
(one child and one parent) and each site has DP on a separate machine. They
have around 10k clients installed on workstations.
They want to upgrade their SMS2003 to SCCM 2007 R2 (new machine) and reroute
all of the clients to new site.
CH1 represents Site Code for Child primary site currently in the clients
environment
PA1 represents Site Code for Parent primary site currently in the clients
environment
NE1 represents Site Code for New SCCM site
If anyone has done this kind of migration, I would apreciate if you can have
a look at the following plan:
Main tasks:
- Install 2 new servers for new SCCM site (Site Server and DP)
- Backup sites and DBs of production SMS servers
- Migrate clients to Parent PA1 site and cancel Child site CH1 in production
- On new server for SCCM site install SMS2003sp2 for NE1
- Configure NE1 server to be Child primary site for old PA1 site and wait
for replication
- Migrate Clients to new NE1 site and cancel old PA1 site
- In-place upgrade SMS2003 on NE1 site to SCCM 2007 R2
Any advice would be apreciated.
