RE: W2k3 to W2k8 upgrade, clean SCCM 2007 installation

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

03 is soooo 5 years ago. Go with 08!

Ok, ok; it depends upon your confidence level I guess. Is this a lab? Or
do you have to go to production within the week? If you have some time; I'd
go ahead & use Windows Server 08, SQL 05 latest SP & Cumulative Update (If
it's a lab, might as well try SQL 08. I mean, why not?)

My reasoning for Server 08: you will likely want to upgrade it to Server 08
before that hardware needs to be replaced, correct? Do you really want to
plan an OS upgrade in 6-9 months? Or would you rather deal with any
"headaches" now, when you've got the understanding of Management that you're
building the system, and there might be some things that need to be worked
out? They won't be as forgiving when they are relying on the system next
year to be on 24x7.

I've been looking to install it on a Server 2003 until earlier today, ´so
haven't seen the articles that I've been looking at today that seem to
indicate that it is a big headache to install on Server 2008. Given the
choice, would you install it on Server 2003 instead of Server 2008? Seems to
be a lot of manual things that need to be set to get it to work.

I have a 2003 Server that has been upgraded to W2k8. Are there any known
issues with installing a new, clean, SCCM 2007 SP1 environment on this
server? Are there any prevalent gotchas that I should look out for? Thank you
for the info!
