Re: incorrect site when I use the discover on the client

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

The fact that a manual install assigns the client correctly is fairly normal because this method forces the sitecode, it doesn't go through the autodiscover process.

Site bbb is not a secondary site by any chance?

Thank you for replying. I checked the boundaries and we use a IP range, which is unique to each building. What I found is; if I installed the client manually, the site code was be blank and when I tried to discover button, I would get the incorrect site code. If I let sccm install the client, the correct site code would be assigned and approved.

The site code we use actually is a three digit number starting with a 9.

Thanks

I have 18 building without the state, each with a site server that is a primary server. We are using SCCM 2007, where one person responsible for two locations. We have 18 windows 2003 servers with all of the service packs and updates. The AD schema is not extended and the 18 WINS entries have been double checked.

When I try to use the discover button, the site code is aaa instead of being bbb, which it is suppose to be. If I type in bbb, I get a reply failed to update site assignment. I have tried to manually install the client with the same result. When I check the site code on the client it is blank. When I try discover I get bbb.

Any suggestions?
Check your boundary configuration, sounds like you have overlapping boundaries which is not supported.

PS: I know sitecodes are more of an sccm internal thing, but I usually use something more descriptive than aaa and bbb :-)
