Resolved: This only occurs in the Prerequisite Checker, in actual setup it is 100% Successful. (Reported to MS as Bug).
Cheers!

"David Baur" <dbaur@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:O$hlrMKAIHA.1204@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxYes, both the SCCM Server name and the User Installing are members of the Local Administrators Group, as well as have SysAdmin privileges on the DB. Another person was having this issue, so I jsut did it to see if it was a valid problem, and it repro'd. No Idea what is causing it to fail or why. We cannot be the first to have seen the problem though.
Thanks

In SCCM Setup I am Entering ServerName\Instance (Instance is already created on remote Server)
The ConfigMgrSetup.log shows the following:
IsValidNetBIOSName validation of '501ST' succeeded
Registered type 501ST MASTER for 501ST SCCM1DB\master
Registered type SMS Master for 501ST SCCM1DB\master
Registered type 501ST SCCM1DB\SMS_SCM for 501ST SCCM1DB\SMS_SCM
Registered type SMS ACCESS for 501ST SCCM1DB\SMS_SCM
Could not connect SQL Server 'master' db.
Could not verify SQL Server is clustered or not because the setup could not connect to the SQL Server 501ST or failed to run the query.
The SCCM Primary Site Computer Account and the User account I am using are both sysadmin on the Remote SQL Server, and have sysadmin on Master as well. Protocol is TCP/IP Only.
SETSPN has been used to register both the Netbios and FQDN SPN for use with the System Account.
Error is always: Could not connect SQL Server 'master' db.
SQL is SQL Server 2005 Sp2
Any Assistance or can this be done, states a Named Instance on a Remote Server DB is supported.
Thanks,
David Baur
You state that the computer account is sysadmin on the sql box, does this mean the account is in the local administrators group?
