Thanks for the response Steve. The overlapping boundaries was what I
was worried about. I guess I'll have to create an isolated subnet.
The two major issues I have with the server:
1. Remote sms admin console doesn't work. I've gone through the 8
page KB article (317872) on connectivity issues with no luck.
2. OS deployment using an OS image install disk - I see all my
packages listed but they all error out (sometimes a DP error, sometimes
a permissions error). I can however specify the package manually with
the path, user name, password, and package name - this works, but its
clunky.
A little history:
People say that the imaging was working fine until they changed the
domain admin password - then things started breaking.
The appropriate users are in the local SMS Admin group.
Assuming you are talking about the SMS service account password, have you
tried an SMS site reset using the account/new password combination?
Steve
Thanks again,
Scott

I have a working SMS site and I'd like to set up an independent site
for testing.
Can I create a second primary site (not a secondary site) within the
same domain & subnet?
Creating another primary site in the same domain is not an issue, using
the
same subnets will create an overlapping boundary issue, which is a bad
thing.
If you could manage your site(s) by ip subnet, avoiding managing the
+same+
ip subnet with both sites you could create your new primary site.
I have some issues with our current site setup and want to try a clean
install on a different server without interfering with our current sms
site.
What are the issues, maybe you could correct those?
Steve
