no it will create on its own. After I setup my secondary it took a while
since sms sends the pck file down and extacts it on the secondar site. My
secondary servers are virtual so this might have something to do with it.
Check the sender log on the central site, See if you have a SMSPKG folder
with pck files in them. Check also in the despool.log for something like
this...

This is your main thing to find: Your package ID and the version sent from
central to secondary.
Received package SYS00049 version 1

I had a feeling that this was the case! I have added the DP to all of the.
packages now but they don't seem to push down. I have no SMSPKG folder on the
secondary site, do I need to create this manually eg. copy over from the
primary server?

The packages will not go there by default, you will need to look in each
package and add distribution point, select your new secondary...
Then the package will be pushed to it

Hi,
I am new to SMS so please bare with me on this!
We have a functioning SMS 2003 SP2 running in our environment and I am
trying to setup an additional secondary site. The two servers are in the same
domain and can talk to each other, both ping and resolve each other hostnames.
I have installed SMS on the secondary server (as a secondary site) and it
appears under my primary site after a few minutes, after this nothing seems
to happen, the SMS packages are not getting pushed down (I have left it
overnight). Below is what appears in the sender.log:
~We have 0 active connections $$<SMS_LAN_SENDER><Fri Dec 08 08:31:56.157
2006 GMT Standard Time><thread=1136 (0x470)>

$$<SMS_LAN_SENDER><Fri Dec 08 08:31:56.157 2006 GMT Standard

No (more) send requests found to process.~ $$<SMS_LAN_SENDER><Fri Dec 08
08:31:56.157 2006 GMT Standard Time><thread=1136 (0x470)>
~Waiting for new/rescheduled send requests, Maximum Sleep Time = 60 minutes
$$<SMS_LAN_SENDER><Fri Dec 08 08:31:56.157 2006 GMT Standard
Time><thread=1136 (0x470)>
I have also tried pushing out the secondary site from the Primary via the
SMS Console but it just hangs there at a status of "Pending" again I have
left this overnight but still nothing.
Both servers are running on Windows 2003 Server SP1 R2 and are part of the
same domain.
Other secondary sites have been created and are working but this was before
SMS was thrown my way, the previous guy who set it up has left and has left
NO documentation.
Any help would be great!
Regards
Colin
