I am using ITMU to patch my clients but KB890830 takes forever to scan the
harddrive. I am using the following syntax:

KB890830.....exe /q /f:y

Is there anyway that you can install the patch but don't scan the hard
drive
on the clients.

This really isn't a patch... the "Microsoft Windows Malicious Software
Removal Tool" is a disk intensive activity. See if this helps...
