We have a primary site server whose hardware is going out of support in
Jan
2007. The local office it serves has gone from 350 clients down to just
50.
So we've decided not to replace the server but just decommission it and
reassign the clients back to the parent server.
If that count is going to hold steady at 50 or so, you may want to think
about deploying an SMS secondary site to that location. Your plan about
re-assigning should work fine, however without a local site system consider
the WAN bandwidth utilization, especially for software distribution.
