Apologies in advance for being a newb and perhaps asking too many
questions
at once.
Essentially, I want to know what systems are on a given subnet. Several
of
the systems will have multiple IPs on different subnets. What type of
discovery should I being using? Should I ONLY being using a Network
Discovery?
Most sms administrators use a few of the discovery methods... for example AD
system discovery is a great way to get system information. For those devices
that may be multi-homed, the information should get aggragated under a
single resouce (netbios) name.
Also, what causes the Network Discovery Properties - Subnets Tab - Subnets
to become populated with subnets that I never entered?
SMS is probably discovering them based on other information you entered.
