Cannot expand Site Hierarchy

I've just installed SMS 2003 on a Windows Server 2003 SP1 and I'm unable to
expand the Site Hierarchy at the Admin Console from my workstation. It
expands without any problems from the site server itself.

I'm running the admin console on a windows xp pro sp2 workstation and it's
able to connect to the site database, but anything below that like the site
hierarchy does not expand.
