It is because your client on secondary sites assign to Pramary site by
default.
Clients in secondary sites use DP, MP etc. from Sec. Site but send report on
Primary.
You can reassign it in client push installation on Secondary Site, but I am
not shure that it right.

Hi,

I have a problem with AD discovery. I have an central site with a
primary child site in the same forest/domain.

On both sites I run AD discovery but only on the central site SMS
founds objects. I checked the logs on the child everything looks good,
it can bind to the OU but it simply says 0 objects found.

I checked to see if the clients find the child site and site discovery
and client agents are coming true.
