I assume this is just another method you used to deploy the SMS to ADV
client, correct ?

Hello
If i were you, I would:
0. Read carefully the SMS Concepts, Planning, and Deployment Guide, pp.
122.
Then, in a test environment:
1. Create a new GPO ("SMS Client Install" for example)
2. Link the GPO to your target workstations OU. Run gpupdate then
gpresults
and make sure the GPO is OK.
3. Copy the client.msi to a network server share. Make sure permissions
are
everyone-read.
4. Modify the GPO: computer settings, software distribution, assign the
.msi
file.
5. reboot the target clients (gpupdate is not enough)
6. Verify SMS client client installation. Site assignment should be
automatic if the client is within the site's boundaries.
Hope it helps,
Best regards,
Michel-Vincent

Not having success with this.
Does anyone have a step-by-step procedure on best practice for doing
this?
I am not an AD guru and have little experience with GPOs.
I created an admin install with properties for AUTO site code and custom
HTTP port.
But when I run gpupdate on a machine to upgrade the Legacy client to
Advanced, nothing happens.
Should be something simple or basic that is missing.
So far I find some instructions from web searching on how to do this but
no
comprehensive explanation of exactly how it is done from start to finish.
Thanks,
.
