Re: sms2003 sp2 won't install on sql2005 instance

thanks. We don't want to do that. We are avoiding having a default
instance because it makes it too easy for someone to install into it
accidentally.

Our servers run dual Xeon CPUs on a Gig network. User population slightly
under 1000 workstations. I was hoping our setup would be ok in that
environment. Please correct me if I am being overly optimistic.

If this server is not a clusters SQL server then you can run it under
the default instance on that server.

Secondly do you realize that you will transferring allot of data
between your SQL server and SMS server, thereby impacting your network
and slowing down SMS processing?
