Hello Mr Durand,
In Enterprise Manager when you go to the logins folder. You can create a login for the computer account. In the name just put domain\computer name and then give the account sysadmin rights and then it should work. Also make sure that the BUILTIN\Administrators group is in SQL server.
and what if the SQL server is a domain controller?

Hello,
The SMS Server account needs to be a member of the Administrators
group on the SQL Server. If it still not working that way you can add
the machines account into SQL Server as a login and give the account
dbo and sysadmin rights to the SQL Server.
Actually this is the error message I've been getting
The Windows server SQLSERVERNAME\SQLINSTANCE that is running the SQL
Server is down or not on the network, or your current Windows logon
ID does not allow you to access the Windows server.
Either the SQL Server is in a Windows NT 4 domain or this computer's
machine account does not have Administrator's privileges on the SQL
Server. To install a site in advanced security, all servers must be
in Active Directory and the site server's machine account must have
Administrator's privileges on the SQL Server.
I'm fine with everything in that message except the "the site
server's machine account must have Administrator's privileges on the
SQL Server".
Does this mean the machine account needs to be in the local
administrators group of the server or have admin privileges on the
database itself? First off the SQL server is on a domain controller
(small company, fast CPU's with lots of RAM) and secondly I thought
I was somewhat SQL savvy however how in the world do you give a
computer account access to a database?
The machine account for the SMS server itself (a member server) is
in the 'Administrators' group as shown on the domain.
Maybe I didn't have enough caffeine yet today.

Can the SQL 2000 server be an AD domain controller? If so, how do
you get the SMS machine (a member server) into the local admins
group?
