Re: What to do next after attached a secondary site on primary sit



Sorry for the delay - busy week last week.
The advantage of putting sites in a hierarchical relationship is that the
child site passes all of its information up the parent site, allowing you to
report on everything in your organization from the central (top parent)
site. Also, because software distribution flows downward in the hiearchy,
you can distribute all your packages from the central site. If you have
standalone sites, you lose these benefits. The most common reason I would
guess for having standalone sites is security/administrative control. The
parent site admin can do things to the child site and the child site might
not want that. If you set security permissions appropriately, the child site
admin should not be able to do anything to the parent site.
Does that make sense?
