SMS Advanced Clients

Hi, Group!.
I have a small test Active Directory with 2003 servers and XPsp2
workstations. My DC is only a DC running at highest functional level. My
2nd server has SQL, SMS and is the sole MP. My clients are advanced (no
legacy) using standard security. This was a fresh install, rather than
upgrade for all machines concerned. I have no WINS but I have extended the
AD schema.
I am able to locate my network machines that I wish to make clients and even
get the advanced client to install onto them, but they will not "become"
clients as viewed from the systems collection. Viewing the workstations
from the control panel, they appear to have installed the client software.
Through various other troubleshooting, fixes, changes, I have been able to
get the SMS server itself to become a client and to have fairly error-free
logfiles. The non-client workstations can seem to be able to install the
software and locate the MP but that is about as far as they seem to be able
to get.
Running the MP troubleshooter from the SMStoolkit2 contained one error:
MPCert HTTP Request - Object reference not set to an instance of an
object.
I then ran the two test queries/browses
http://<SERVERNAME>:80/SMS_MP/.sms_aut?MPLIST and
http://<SERVERNAME>:80/SMS_MP/.sms_aut?MPCERT from the SMS server that
works and they returned the expected display, but they do not work from my
workstation that isn't a client.
The logs from the above machine showed me the following:
ccmexec.log
<![LOG[HTTP ERROR: URL=http://SMS/ccm_system/request, Port=80, Code=12029,
Text=ERROR_WINHTTP_CANNOT_CONNECT]LOG]!>
execmgr.log
<![LOG[Software Distribution Site Settings for the client are missing from
WMI.]LOG]!>
< failed with GLE=1245]LOG]!>
LocationServices.log
<![LOG[LSRefreshAuthenticationInfo : failed to refresh trusted key
info.]LOG]!>
<![LOG[LSRefreshTrustedKeyInfo failed with error '0x80072efd'.]LOG]!>
<![LOG[Failed to send request to /SMS_MP/.sms_aut?MPKEYINFORMATION at host
DAMIUSMS]LOG]!>
smscliui.log
<![LOG[WMI Query failed. Error 0x8004108a !!!]LOG]!>
<![LOG[WMI EnumClasses failed. Error 0x8004108a !!!]LOG]!>
<![LOG[Unable to get CacheInfo. Error: 0X80070005]LOG]!>
Most of the above indictations seem to point to an issue with outside
machines (machines aside from the SMS/MP server itself) being able to access
the MP and properly interact with it, although they seem to be able to
locate it.
I'd appriciate any help that you can provide.
