Let's approach this outside of the NAS issue entirely for the moment.
The machine account must be used in advanced security, you cannot define a
site system connection account.
Of course the site server's machine account must have rights on the DP.
net localgroup administrators /add <SiteServerMachineName>
If it is still failing, will probably want to clear the site server machine
account's inbound connection to that DP (if exists) , and also enable
security auditing for logon failures in group policy on that machine if it
is not a domain policy already. Then check the event logs to see what the
issue really is. You may have an AD problem with the machine account and
might end up removing the machine from the domain and adding it back as a
simple solution.
