This may not be the correct forum for this. If not, just let me know. I am
trying to set up an SMS gateway to send text messages to mobile phones in
the USA, using the Spring network to send them. I bought a Hitachi G1000
Pocket PC Phone from Sprint, and come to find out it does not support
sending SMS messages. So what I want to do is install (possibly create) an
app for the pocket pc that will connect thru the internet to an SMS gateway.
There are many SMS gateways out there (web sites that allow you to send SMS
messages to mobile phones). But I want to create my own SMS gateway and
connect to it. I want to connect a Sprint mobile phone to my server that is
connected to a DSL connection. And I want my Pocket PC Phone Edition to send
the to, from, and message information to this server over the Internet. I
want the server to take the information, and send it out as an SMS text
message using the Sprint mobile phone connected to it. I want the server to
be invisible to the recipient of the message. I want them to see my Pocket
PC phone number as who the message is from, not the mobile phone connected
to the server. When they hit reply I also want it to come directly to my
Pocket PC, not the server. I also want a web interface where I can access it
from the internet and send SMS text messages from any PC with web access. My
server is currently running Windows Small Business Server (2000) and my
Hitachi G1000 Pocket PC Phone Edition is currently running Pocket PC 2002. I
haven't bought the Sprint mobile phone to connect to the server yet, but I
may just get one of those data connection cards that Sprint sells. Does
anyone know of any apps out there that will do this? Does anyone have any
resources for me? I should point out that I am a beginner and have never
really developed any serious applications. I am a pretty fast learner though
and since I absolutely need SMS on my Pocket PC Phone Edition, I am more
than willing to give this a shot. Anyone have any advice for me? Anyone out
there have a Hitachi G1000 and want to join me in this project to get SMS
working on it? Thanks in advance for any help.
