Hi,
The scenario:
We're a service management company supporting a standard platform
installation across a couple of dozen different small business customers. By
standard platform I mean we roll out 90% identically configured servers,
workstations and applications (Microsoft based) to all our customers and
tailor the remaining 10% to the particular customer's needs.
Our customers all have their own forests, and we have a management forest
called 'ourcompany.com'.
The question:
Can we set up a parent SMS 2003 site in ourcompany.com and place child sites
at customer1.com, customer2.com and so on, even though the customers' sites
are in a different domain?
If this is possible, can someone point us to where we can get some best
practices advice on how to implement such a solution? Are there any
particular challenges associated with such an approach (we would like to use
most of SMS 2003's functionality)?
If it is not possible, does anyone have a good idea of how to practically
implement efficient software distribution in a scenario as described above?
Any input will be highly appreciated!
Regards,
Jørn
