I am currently using a trial version of SMS 2003 to determine its use
for our company (and I suspect so that I'll be competent enough so
they wont have to send me on a course!) and having been having a few
difficulties using the client wizard to install the Advanced Client.
I managed to get it installed on the SMS server itself with no
problems, but I first had difficulty getting the test workstation
assigned to the site (which I never managed to resolve despite have
the IP subnet AND the AD name in the boundaries) and then installing
the client. The problem appeared to be related to the account I was
using to install the client. I resolved the issue by adding the
'%ComputerName%\Administrator' account to the list. The problem lies
in the fact that I was originally trying to install the client with
the TEST\Administrator account... this is a membr of Enterprise
Admins, Domain Admins and SMS Admins! How can this account not be able
to install the client on the workstation??? Below I have included the
section of the ccm.log relating to the successful install.
Thanks,
Richard
P.S. Sorry for any spelling problems, my laptops keyboard is dying on
me. You have non idea how much you take the E, T and [Space Bar] for
granted until they mess up!
