Re: Query to test the existence of a folder

Depends,

if you inventory the full win32_directory class then you don't add any classes and then a recompile isn't needed.

The story is slightly different with the view instance provider, I think.

So, no I didn't prove it was a script :-P

That could work but it would require some testing. Plus, in SMS2k3 wouldn't you have to compile the SMS_def.mof on all clients anyway so really it is a script, sort of. :-)

So thanks for proving that it is a script. :-)

Marco, I don't think you can do that in ConfigMgr 2007. I think you will need ot use a script to do that.

The solution is: There's nor chance to do that. This feature will only be
available in the SMS 2003 successor SCOM 2007.

Does anyone know the SMS query to test the existence of a folder (e.g.
C:\Data) no matter whether it has subfolders or not, no matter whether files
are included or not and no matter whether if this folder is part of a
software product?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm no SMS admin.

I disagree, yes I know you don't like me disagreeing with you, but I am disagreeing anyway :-P

Windows has a win32_directory namespace in wmi.
So if you don't mind to inventory all folders on your systems than this shouldn't be that difficult a mofedit. (Sherry, we need some assistance here :-)

Alternatively, you could use the view instance provider to select only the specific folder you want to inventory. (Sherry, I am just bluffing here, I am in way over my head when it comes to the view instance provider).
