To write this you'd need to create a nested query that prompts for a collection, rather advanced stuff.
If you need results quickly there are 2 built in reports "Software Updates with Count of applicable and installed computers" and "Computers where a specific software update is applicable" to get you started.
If you plan on using these as templates, my suggestion, make sure you clone them before making any changes. It is a Best Practice to NEVER modify the default reports.
Once cloned you can change as much as you want, if they get jacked up simply delete and re-clone the original.

I would like ato have a customised report which would either show all patches
not installed on all machines in a specific collection with a break down
computer by computer or the same for all machines of a specific operating
system.
I would be most grateful for all help as I am an SQL novice.
