They are in DNS. But I do not have a reverse lookup zone. I am unsure if
SMS requires a reverse lookup zone. AD doesn't. I will check that log file
and get back to you.

Check the ad system discovery log in the sms\logs folder.
I am suspecting the xp machine has no dns entry.

Ok, I checked and verified that I did indeed enter the domain name in.
Not sure what I am doing wrong. Should be simple as all the hosts can
communicate with each other, are on the same domain in a single subnet.

Have you added a domain to discover?

Hmm..everything is in a single subnet, single domain. I have
configured AD discovery method and told it to run discovery
immediately. However, the only two computers I see in ay of the
collections are the SMS Site Server and the server running the SMS QL
database. What am I doing wrong?

For discovery nothing special but you need to configure the ad system
discovery method.
Subsequently to have push working:
From Cathy's fine faq.
Client Push Installation Client Push Installation fails on client
computers running Windows XP SP 2. To enable Client Push
Installation, enable File and Print Sharing in the Windows Firewall
configuration on the Windows XP client.

No, but the XP system did have it's firewall enabled. What
exceptions do I need to allow for SMS to "see" it?

Running SMS 2003 SP1 Server. Installed successfully (not using AD
extensions). Where in the interface to I go to install the SMS
client to my test Windows XP computer? I looked in the Help file
it doesn't tell me where to click.
