Client not receiving advertisements

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

For the last whole week, the newly installed clients are not receiving
the advertisement. I checked the Control Panel -- Systems Management,
in the Actions Tab, I can only see: Machine Policy Retrieval and
Evaluation Cycle, User Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle.

There used to be other actions available: Software Inventory Cycle,
Hardware Inventory Cycle, etc. But I could not get this back, even by
repairing the SMS client or reinstalling SMS Client.

Currently the machine is sitting there quietly without receiving
advertisements for a whole day long.

Can anyone help, thanks a lot.
