Re: SMS V4 Multiple Forests

The kek point in this scenario is that the clients can receive policies from
the right MP.

How to manually assign an MP for a client that is not in the same forest and
same WINS as the MP?

Following these steps:

Assume that the site code is AC3 and the IP address of the MP is 10.20.1.14.

1.. Copy the client.msi and ccmsetup to the client machine
2.. Run ccmsetup SMSSITECODE=AC3
3.. Run wbemtest
4.. Connect to root\ccm
5.. Select Enum Class
6.. Select Recursive
7.. Double click SMS_Authority [CCM_Authority]
8.. Select CurrentManagementPoint
9.. Click Instances
10.. Double click SMS_Authority.Name="SMS_AC3"
11.. Select CurrentManagementPoint
12.. Click Edit Property
13.. Type in the IP address of the MP, say, 10.20.1.14
14.. Click the Save Object
15.. Select Protocol
16.. Type in "IP"
17.. Click the Save Object
Make sure the following properties have the right values like following:

CurrentManagementPoint CIM_STRING 10.20.1.14

Name CIM_STRING SMS:AC3

PolicyOrder CIM_UINT32 100 (0x64)

PolicyRequestTarget CIM_STRING mp:[http]MP_PolicyManager

Protocol CIM_STRING IP

18.. Re-start ccmexec service
Now, the client should receive policies form the MP.

I'm running SMS 2003 in my Prod environment, and now need to manage and
report on my many Test & Dev environments. Since those are spearate
forests,
I will need to add 6 or 7 Primary Sites and have them report up to my
Central
Site. I was wondering if anyone knew if V4 would be able to manage clients
across different Forests ? I have heard this was going to be a new
feature ?
Thanks
